Note from the VP
October 5, 2011
LISTEN UP, your OHIO Vice President is needing your attention,
First, IF you have internet service, understand that you will NOT be receiving a 'hard' copy of the Ohio Flying Farmer newsletter. It is up to you to go to www.ohioflyingfarmers.org and then click on the articles of interest. Editor Bob Arend updates that site any time he receives information. He can never receive enough accolades.
IF you have something that might interest members, write it and email it to Bob Arend and he'll take it from there.
We did jump the gun organizing the 2012 Region III tour. It was Michigan's turn to host it but after an unofficial meeting, it has been decided to swap.
In 2012 Michigan will have the MI/OH convention and Ohio will have the Region III tour. 2013 will be Michigan's turn at the Region III tour and Ohio will have the convention! That was easy!
Mark your 2012 calendar for August 17, 18, and 19 and plan on seeing your friends in Van Wert, Ohio. Details at a much later date.
Snowbirds, the following dates are as follows:
November 18, Friday, 12:30 pm, Albert Whitted Airport, St. Petersburg, FL December 17, Saturday, 12:30, at VanderKolk's in Bradenton, FL January 23, 24, 25, 26, 2012 IFF Workshop, Ft. Lauderdale, FL area
Hugs to all! Mary Gruber
NOW - click on www.ohioflyingfarmers.org and practice going there often, please.
Region III Tour date set! August 10, 11, 12, 2012
Van Wert, Ohio
Let me tell you the activities we are planning and then you tell me if you are PROBABLY interested in attending. Why do I need to know if you might attend? I have reserved 20 rooms for an estimated 40 attendees. The town is small, one other motel. That particular weekend is their ANNUAL Lincoln Highway Garage Sale that generates lots of visitors. I can set aside more rooms, if I get an indication of number attending. She will only hold the rooms until May 1, 2012.
Okay, tentative tours:
Gina Dairy Farm, a mega dairy farm, family run
Wellman Seed, processes soybeans into tofu which goes mainly to Japan
Wind Turbine Farm
Fire Department Museum
Thomas Edison Center, solar powered
Speaker Larry Webb to tell history of the Lincoln Highway
Airport is near town, free tie-downs.
Rooms $92 per night + 13%, double queen rooms and king rooms, clean. Full breakfast in nice area.
So, please hit reply IF you are strongly considering attending our Region III Tour on August 10, 11, and 12, 2012. How many from your email address?
We will have the tour in Van Wert, Ohio -- bordering Indiana, more north than south along the bordering states. The Lincoln Highway goes right through Van Wert. That highway is the first PAVED highway connecting the Atlantic to the Pacific -- New York City to San Francisco.
Thanks, Mary Gruber -- Art and I are heading to Florida on Wednesday. Hope to see many of you there this winter. Our first FL fly-in is November 18, a FRIDAY, at the Albert Witted Airport in St. Pete, FL. We will have a private upstairs room, elevator equipped, order from menu.
Thanks, Mary Gruber, Vice President of the Ohio Flying Farmers!!!
May you always
have Love to Share, Health to Spare, And Friends that Care.
